one of my absolute favorite things about living and studying in Spain is the ease of meeting people from every country in the world. it’s incredibly fascinating being friends with people from places so different from your own home. it makes you want to learn about their lives and their cultures because you’re actually interested in the person. for example last night i met up with my british friend and we ended up getting tapas with another american, two more brits, a chinese guy, a brazilian, a russian, and two germans. we spent hours comparing our lives at home and i believe it’s truly the best way to learn. my friends here and so entirely different from my friends at home. only because we have absolutely no background in common. their jaw’s drop when i mention simple things such as water fountains, or college tuition, or calling a “cubbard” a closet. having such a variety of personalities means life is always far from boring
